P, thanks for sharing the the library, lunch and lattes stories. Big small town alumni connections abound.
Ed and I lost our match in five games and have blamed the malt from the night before for our valiant loss.
Good of you to drop off the book. Good timing -- I just finished The Orenda -- an engaging and challenging read. I wont say more until you have read it. Welcom to borrow this copy if you want it.
I am up for a ride later when the weather settles. Let me know what you are thinking in terms of time and place. The forecast I am looking at shows a 1:PM clearing of the clouds. W
George/Pat, Teaching this afternoon, so I'm going to do an hour at the gym this morning. Hope the rain holds off. Ray
Hi Valiant Loser!
Sorry to hear about your squash loss. Quite obvious that you and Fast Eddy need to do far more training in the malt department. Perhaps this Sunday could be the start of a rigorous regime!
With respect to riding, I have chains that bind, inasmuch as I was just presented with "orders" that inform me that I am indentured to Mme Coriandre, and so must chauffeur her to Aunt Leah's in time for her volunteer shift at 2:00 pm.
Would probably work best for me if I could set out around 10:00ish. However, if that doesn't work for you, too bad! Since you are whining about squash you might as well whine about cycling!
We just had message from Robo Cop and I see he is ducking into gym. Typical non-Peloton behaviour! Let me know if you want to join me. Direction is flexible, like me, as you well know! Cheers, Il Conduttore!

Hey, Nice to see you too. I knew that the luncheon was going on and I was hoping that you would come by! I think that Dermot is enjoying the Obab-book. If he hasn't completely read it by Sunday, would you pro-rate the $5 penalty based on the percentage that he has read? I'll tell him to bring coinage along just in case. Sara
Hello Obabkoak Apologist and Malingering Reader!
We don't do no stinkin' pro-rating for fines at The NRBC. Tough love on the mean streets of the book club world! Attention to task completion and discipline, just like cycling, is the mantra! Furthremore, whining/whingeing will mean any assessed fines will be doubled! Are you sure you want to join, O Surly Shirley? Cheers, Patrizzio!
Thanks, Patrizzio – looking forward to entering the fray and abiding by the Marquess of Queensbury Rules, or the Pirate Code of the NRBC. (Though, alas, I as yet do not know what the acronym stands for – please do not fine me) ds
Hello Prospective Non-Readers Book Club Member!
We, in the NRBC, spit on MQR, (and on our palms), preferring bare knuckle rounds for all the intellectual sparring which takes place at the gatherings of The Brotherhood! Kachink, Kachink, Kachink just went the NRBC piggy-bank with a preemptive $5 fine strike for not knowing what the acronym stands for! See Section III, Sub-section VII of the Pirate Code, entry under Barbary Corsairs, for justification behind levy. (Even so, cutting you some slack as your pathetic "craven whingeing will not be held against you until you find your sea legs!) And you haven't even been to your first meeting. Great Start! Rest of scurvy, motley crew are already rubbing their hands together! Cheers, Captain Hook!
Hi Pat, Thanks for your message. I would love to see the movie, Monday is fine, but not sure about your time indication. What does $:30 mean? How would you and Corinne like to come to Jane's cabin around Easter? Bestestos, Kjell
Hi Kjell! Monday sounds fine for film. It screens at 4:30 pm. (I hit the wrong key!)
Thank you for the lovely invitation to the cabin over Easter. What had you in mind? I know Cora Lee has a number of church/Heartwood related commitments over that weekend so we'd need to try and dovetail things. Let us know how you plan to spend your time there, (When going up, etc.), and we'll see what works from our end.
Had a pretty good jaunt today. Left at 10:00 am and headed out to UBC and then along Marine past campus as I wanted to ride to Iona. Bit cloudy when I started out but was rather sunny by the time I was at Cambie SkyTrain Bridge. Wind was out of the SSE so it was more of a cross-wind, with a bit more buffeting when riding east. This being the case I was able to maintain an AVG of between 24-25 km/hr on way out to Iona but only 21/23 km/hr on return leg. Still, ride up Cambie, with wind pushing me from behind, was quite pleasant. Bit taken aback by the very angry looking, dark, dark clouds over the mountains as I made my way past Queen E Park and towards Science World. Wasn't too, too worried about rain as I had to be home by 1:30 pm in order to chauffeur Coriandre to Aunt Leah's for her afternoon shift.
We are off to a SLAIS function, at VPL, this evening, honouring this year's grads. Usually loads of fun and a chance to visit with former classmates, colleagues, etc. Let me know about Monday now that you know correct time. Must away as I want to give my bike a good cleaning before I get ready to make myself presentable for tonight's soirée! Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi Raymond! Hope you are teaching on your deck as it is a lovely afternoon here! Cheers, Patrizzio!
Hi all. At our annual lunch April 3rd, Ingrid Parent passed on the following request from the Societe historique francophone de la C-B (Historical Francophone Society of BC):
The Society has about 1200 books that need to be converted to Dewey, as well as adding some periodicals to the collection. They also have some archives that need to be verified for completeness as well as transfer to acid free envelopes. There may be more tasks related to both the books and the archives. They asked Ingrid whether she knew of any volunteers who could spend a day or so a week to do these tasks. Their home base is on 7th Avenue just off Granville. If
anyone is interested, Ingrid could put the person in touch with the President of the Society for more information. Presumably one needs to know the language.
Nadine
Hi Nadine: Just a quick note to thank you for organizing the luncheon this past Thursday. It was a lovely affair, as always. Very much appreciated. Cheers, Patrizzio!
Hello Perth People!
Trust you are both well. Blossoms are out so cycling is wonderful through avenues of cherry trees, some white, some pink, depending on part of city. Fondestos and Cheers, Patrizzio!
