Hello all, March 9th is a good date for myself, managed to get time off work that evening. Let me know if it's confirmed and how many people so I can tell my uncle that the nrbc will be invading his restaurant for the evening. fyi: the restaurant is called green lettuce and is at Kingsway and Victoria. VL
Victor, thanks. Let's say it is on. Count me in anyway. Hopefully everyone can let you know with some certainty so we can reserve the space. The next book is Umbrella by Will Self (Pat). After that Jon has chosen Bernardo Atxaga’s Obabakoak. Kurt is going to choose the book to follow Obabakoak. G
I’m in providing that the food and service is good if not excellent—hold the lettuce!--Kurt And bridge that afternoon? How good does it have to be -- and hold the 'let us'?
I'm in. Guy March 9th is fine with me too, Moe.
Hi Vittorino et al!
I'm certainly planning to be at the Green Lettuce, come kale or high water, with my read Umbrella! Cannot, for the life of me, understand what all this "hold the lettuce" is about. Obviously, the dolts don't know what la spécialité de la maison happens to be! Cheers, Patrizzio!

Ray, Nice to see you lasterday. I headed for home shortly after you parted and I accidentally found the whirling-tea-cozy man. Of course we did a grand right-turn-only dipsy-doodle through UBC before we got back on track and headed for the fore shore -- for sure.
Thanks for the URL. Learned a couple techniques that are helpful in that video. May ride Friday morning, weather permitting. I think Pat may be figure skating -- now there is an image. G
Hi Lads!
Let me echo Whirlygig's pleasure at having you back in the Peloton, Robo Man! Just for record, stats for ride:
75.09 km over 3:47'51, AVG 19.7 km/h as I did an extended dipsy-doodle, left-hand turn only this time, around Stanley Park/Prospect Point Loop.
However, I have found my new sport as the competitors are far, far more polite, attractive, curvaceous and scantily clad than you tea cosyist bigots! That being said, plan to ride at 9:00 am from The Heartbreak Terrace on Saturday morn, with Whistler Woman, snow allowing! Let me know if you'd like to borrow a snowflake impermeable tea cosy! Cheers, Patrizzio Synchro Dunn! Pics: You two can take turns driving the Zamboni!
OK. Thanks, Pat. I'll see you at nine. Hoping that the forecast improves - when I agreed to a ride there were still sun symbols on Saturday's forecast!!
Sara Now the stupid forcast has flurries in it! We might be snowshoeing instead! Sara
Hi Whistler Woman!
You should be used to snow if you've done Whistler Gran Fondo twice! I was to up and away by 7:15 am this morning as I was/am volunteering for Sarge, (He is in charge of Security for the SkateCanada's Synchronized Skating Championships in Burnaby this weekend.), today and tomorrow. Loads of fun, especially as I was not at all familiar with this aspect of the sport. Guess we need to watch forecast and stay in touch on Friday evening. Cheers, Patrizzio!
Hi pal, I didn't know that such a thing as synchronized skating even existed!! Learn somethin' every day. Yes, lets watch the weather tomorrow evening - I can handle some rain but a downpour or blizzard would put me off. Ciao! Sara
I missed this e-mail and see it now......I have been busy with taxes. We have no date yet so I need to know first.......when will you be gone so we make sure to not plan the trip then? I see Zagat has a few restaurants with a rating of 28 and 29. I am always interested in the high end restaurants. I also like to stay at a hotel that has one of these nice restaurants for at least one night (I don't like driving at night). We may stay 3 nights, one in Granville. I have not applied for my passport yet. I wonder how long it takes?...........Dave
P, this gives a little detail at least about his family. W
Thank you for your lovely voice message yesterday Ayn. We all very much hope to stay connected with you and your family. I’m sorry to have given you this sad news by email; in a daze, I couldn’t find your current phone number yesterday (which I’ve now located). As you mentioned, as soon as we know, I’ll phone with information about a celebration of his life (which may happen in late March or in April), and our plans for Tofino in August, and we’ll all hope you’ll be able to come to at least one of these events, or if you can’t, to participate in some way. Much love, Jonathan
See you in late March or so Xoxo ok xx
Celebration of life David Casper de Jong
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our father, David Casper de Jong, on February 4th in Ajijic, Mexico. The pain of our loss is balanced by the knowledge that we had a dad like no other. Amongst many things, Casper was an avid doubles squash player whose big heart and boundless soul touched countless people, both on and off the court. Please join Allyson, Jason, Danielle, Kimberley and Veronica in celebrating his life on Sunday February 23rd at 2:30pm at the Canadian Memorial United Church, 1806 West 15th Ave. This will be followed by a reception at the Vancouver Racquets Club, 4867 Ontario Street, where in true Casper style we will share stories and do our best to have a good time.
