Colorado Bronco Blues: Monday, February 3rd!

Everybody knows if you are too careful you are so occupied in being careful that you are sure to stumble over something. -Gertrude Stein, novelist, poet, and playwright (1874-1946)

Hi Whirlygig!

Just a quick note to ask if you have a copy of Blood that Vittorio might borrow. He is coming over at 3:00 pm this afternoon to drop off some Chinese New Year goodies and asked if I'd finished with my copy. As I haven't, thought I'd ask you. Let me know. If your copy is available, he can either pop by your place or I can collect it earlier.

Thanks for the most enjoyable ride. What an extremely pleasant outing. Once we said goodbye, I did about 10 km worth of dipsy-doodling around Kits Point and then a quick run to Science World to bring my distance to 60+ km. Head wind was fierce as all get out on leg home. I think wind picked up later in day as I don't remember it being all that strong on way out to UBC. Stats for ride:

Once back I showered and changed and watched Super Bowl here while

waiting for Peter Lighthall. Cora Lee and I listened to Renee Fleming sing the national anthem, (Thought she did a sterling job!), and then Onward Christian Soldier went to Heartwood to pray for our black, black souls!

Peter, when he arrived, actually went into Sutherland's place from their patio so he surprised me when he walked in our front door. We had a four, side-by-each tasting: Panama Red, 54%, Rum; Poitin, 61.5%, Irish Whiskey; Booker's, 63.7%,Bourbon and Tick all the Boxes, 60.1%, Scotch Malt Whisky Society, before heading downstairs to watch end of game. Both tasting and game were loads of fun as you can imagine. Peter was impressed with everything but found the Poitin quite remarkable, so clean a shot. The Panama Red and Booker's are almost dessert-like while TATB is truly a dram to be savoured.

Back upstairs for dinner, (steaks, fried zucchini with Parmesano, and Clarisse's delectable molasses baked beans), discussing plans for Inja 2015. Of course we had to try the Teeling, (same company which distils Poitin), Small Batch Irish Whiskey, but an anaemic 46%, after dinner to make everything blend in! A very pleasant tapering off dram, so to speak. I dropped Jugos Dom Pedro at Olympic Station at 9:00 pm so he could make his own way to YVR. Grand, if brief, visit. Back home to tidy up kitchen and then watch Downton Abbey.

Are you interested in a ride today? Let me know about Blood, etc., and we'll plan accordingly. Cheers, Il Conduttore!

Pat, Thanks for dropping the books over. Looking forward to starting a new book tonight. I'll make sure you get them back. Ray
Hi Raymond!

Sorry I missed you yesterday. Don't worry about timing on books as everyone here has read them.
Cheers, Il Conduttore!

Hi Colin!

Most enjoyable ride yesterday. Inspected new Point Grey configuration as headed out to UBC.
Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi Vittorio! I haven't finished reading Blood but have already sent a message to Giorgio. I think his copy will be available but I'll let you know as soon as he contacts me. See you around 3:00 pm. Cheers, Patrizzio!

hi pat very cool industrial feel in the heart of the city all you can do is open the dialogue there is a solution, just have to find it no particular hurry ck

Hi Christopher! Spot on with comments on Loft, environs and dialogue with Chloë! Cheers, Patrizzio!

I sat on the couch in my underwear all weekend............. or not, my trevails sound remarkably similar to yours, friends, game, some home reno kicked in for good measure, yet less alcoholic variety

of note, we really should not complain about the PGD (point grey diversion) as it is for the crème de la crème and is their due and not for serfs like us in the hinterland to question, let alone complain ck

Dear Serf!

I think the correct term is "lollygagging" when you should have been out tilling the Master's fields or at least catching fish! Cheers, Patrizzio!

halibut and cod with fresh mangoe salsa and chipotle slaw tacos served to the crew........with beer all stolen from mayor moonbeams kingdom

Dear Fish Thief! I was obviously at wrong Super Bowl Party!!! Cheers, Patrizzio!
Dear David and Maret!

It was with deep sadness that I learned of Walter's death on January 28th. My cousin's husband, Filmer Hubble, forwarded the obituary, as it appeared in the Winnipeg Free Press, to me yesterday. Both Corinne and I send you our heartfelt sympathy. We grieve with you and for you.

As a student, I always felt very close to your Father, David. I respected and admired him as a true academic but was drawn to him by his warmth and genuine humanity. I know sons often have difficult relationships with their fathers, (I, for one, certainly did!), but for me, Walter was a friend and an inspiration to study, simply for the love of literature.

Once again, deepest sympathy to you and your family. Corinne and Patrick.

P, watched the SB with Carlos & Cobby & John Capitano. It was good fun. Would have complained about the one sided match except the right team was the winning in the most spectacular way.

Sounds like a light night for you at the tasting table. Never heard of Poitin so I am very curious about that prospect.

I have not finished Blood but will let Victorio know when I have finished it. I MAY finish it today if I keep my focus.

Don't know about riding today. I have to admit I am concerned about frost and need to get a couple other things done. Maybe we can confer late this morning? W

Hi Whirlissimo!

Focus away and confer later. I've plenty to do before Frosty The Snowman melts away. I'll lt Vittorino know about Blood and possibility thereof. Cheers, Trizzio!
Hi Pattrizzio, quick reply: Yes, see you at 3p sharpish today. Yes, if George would be willing to spare his copy that would be awesome since I really like what I've heard so far from the book and would love to read it in whole, and not just for the purposes of the NRBC, although, we don't actually read the books at NRBC right? Take care, VL

Hi again, Vittorino!

Latest from Whirlygig: "I have not finished Blood but will let Victorio know when I have finished it. I MAY finish it today if I keep my focus." Perhaps know more when you pop by this afternoon. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Thank you Pat : ) also, may run a bit late today and come by at 3:30pish VL

Hi Vittorio! Will see you when we see you, it seems! Had a grand ride with Giggenheimer, around Stanley Park via Prospect Point Hill around noon today. Then accompanied him as far as Macdoanld before heading back home, dipsy doodling around Kits Point and Kits Pool to give me the distance I wanted, 51+ km. What a fabulous day. Sun shining on shining sea. Mountains looked like cut-outs so sharply were they etched against the clear blue sky. hard to beat Vancouver on a day like today. Stats for ride:

Hello Yien and Mike!

Trust all goes well in Bunbury! Just had time to re-read your newsy Christmas Day Newsletter, Yien, and certainly enjoyed catching up on your busy, growing lives!
Anyway, fond regards to you both from Cora Lee. She just left to go to the gym on Granville island. We will be in Mexico, attending Nicole Sutherland's wedding, end of April to until about May 10th. Until then will be pretty close to home. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Pics: Super Bowl and after dinner afterwards

Hi Jon!

Trust you are well! I think I passed you on the Seawall this past Saturday, near Edgewater Casino! Anyway, I think you have an old email for LinkedIn because I cannot accept your invitation to connect.  See you on February 9th if not before, cycling! Cheers, Patrizzio!

Patrizzio! Come vai vecchio amico? Saturday on the Seawall? yep, It was probably me if you wondered how could someone be such stylish on such a crappy bicycle... ;-) I'll save your e-mail address, and I will be there on time (I finished reading the book several weeks ago), asl long as I am not required in any job I am these days applying for... Hopefully I would be able to join you, I am looking forward. Chi vediamo domenica Giani
Hey Pat,

I hope you have the time to give this draft of my Brief a read & then rate it, on a scale of 1 to 10, as to how persuaded you, as a non-legal person, (does that make you illegal?), would be to order disclosure.

You'll have to take everything, more or less at face value since I can't easily supply the Exhibit evidence, which I believe is quite compelling.

Hi again Filmer!

Well, I have cast my "illegal" eye over your Brief and I find it presents a compelling argument for full disclosure as outlined. While not an expert, obviously, I would give it a 10 from a layperson's point of view. I have one misgiving, slight or not, I don't know. In the last sentence on page 21 you write: "murky, untransparent and unaccountable City". I take your point but I think rewording your judgement might work to your advantage. From my point of view the language here is far too charged. It may well be the truth but there is too, too much zeal in the expression. I think something far more detached, objective is called for. I should think you would want the reader to come to this conclusion about the particular City bureaucracy without being hit over the head with your position, substantiated or otherwise. Your anger and frustration, (justified in my opinion, given the horrendous situation), cause you to skip ahead to the conclusion which disclosure should reveal to be the case.

You've worked too hard and too long, expended too much valuable time and precious energy to risk jeopardizing things this way. However, my frank, untutored, unophisticated opinion only. Do what you feel you must do. In any event, our heartfelt wishes go out to you and Sally and family for a successful outcome to this terrible situation. Onward! Fight! Buona Fortuna! Cheers, Patrizzio!                       Hi there,

Would love it if you were all able to attend, or if not maybe people you work with? or certain friends/ family. Any movie buffs you know, or people that love supporting a good cause!!!

Please pass along this email to any friends/family or people you feel would be interested in supporting Aunt Leah’s.

If they are able to print the poster and put it up, even better!

Thanks, Chloë Dun, Fundraising Coordinator
