Honest Abe's Birthday Blues: Wednesday, February 12th

We must, however, acknowledge, as it seems to me, that man with all his noble qualities...still bears in his bodily frame the indelible stamp of his lowly origin. -Charles Darwin, naturalist and author (1809-1882)

“My father taught me to work, but not to love it. I never did like to work, and I don't deny it. I'd rather read, tell stories, crack jokes, talk, laugh -- anything but work.”

Hi Whirlissimo!

According to Accu weather there will be a window of riding opportunity between noon and 2:00 pm. Are you interested? I'm Sisterhood shackled this morning anyway so I'm hoping/planning to go for a short run then. Let me know what you think. Cheers, Rain Man!

P, thanks for the invite -- would love to. I will let you know. It is my nephew's Tofor's (staying at Chasy's) actual birthday today (we celebrated with Amira last Saturday) and I am leaving my schedule open in case he is free for a lunch or dinner. This might also negate my attendance at the Reel Causes event depending on what happens here. Will be in touch later in the morning. W

Hi Much-in-Demand Man!  Understand. Let me know as I was planning to pop by to collect you for Reel Causes. Looks great outside at moment. Hope it holds. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi Anna Maria Tremonte and Rudi Rudenheimer!

Trust all goes well with you and family! Thank you so much for the lovely Christmas card, family news and best wishes. Happy Chinese New Year from The Islay Inn! Sorry I've not been in touch in some time.

Anyway, fond regards to you from Cora Lee. We will be in Mexico, attending Nicole Sutherland's wedding, end of April to until about May 10th. I gather we can expect to see you two  there as well. Do hope so. That would be wonderful. Until then will be pretty close to home. Next trip, driving across the country, we will be in Winnipeg and Falcon Lake in late July/early August to celebrate Corinne's parent's 69th wedding anniversary. Fondestos and Cheers, Patrizzio!

It's at home ill get it later tonight Nicole Thanks Nicolina! Cheers, Patrizzio!
Can you email me around 6 when I get home so I don't forget? I'm at work now. Nicole Will do. Thanks and Cheers, Patrizzio! Address please, Nicolina! Thanks. Cheers, Patrizzio!

P, Reel Cause adventure is out for me. Thanks for offering transport. Look forward to hearing about it. Sure nuff looks lovely out there now. W

Hi Gigabyte! Just back from errandos, MEC and Cheap Thrills. Really was gorgeous but must admit I couldn't do justice to day as far as a long ride was concerned. Don't feel stiff or sore but the 10.18 km over 0:36'56, AVG 16.6 km/h was just right for a "stretch" after yesterday's outing.
Too bad you can't join us but will let you know about Wh(r)eel Causes tomorrow at bridge. Looks like I'll be driving as we are invited to Rosita's Kitchen for porcupine meatballs for din dins. I'll call just before I head out. We can discuss bidding strategy en route! Cheers, Patrizzio!  Pic: Happy Birthday Honest Abe!

Hi Pat, Sorry for the delay in replying - I'll meet you outside Domestic departures! I assume that departures are on the lower level? No big deal - I'll just follow the signs or failing that ask somebody!

Had about 10cm of fresh snow overnight - unfortunately the temperature has gone above 0C so that beautiful fluffy snow has turned to mash potato! Looking forward to seeing you in a week. Regards to all. Ooroo for now Trevor

Hola amigo y amigas!
Hope this finds you well. We have been having a wonderful time down here in Mazatlan. other than the fact that you guys are not here to enjoy it with us! We were kind of knocked out on Thursday due to our 3:30 am wake up to catch our 6:00 am flight. We arrives at the airoort with plenty of time for a change but were keeping an eye out for some frienda of ours who we learned were on the same flight by pire coincidence buy only travelling the Van to LA leg of the joirney and continuing on to Las Vegas after a few days.

There was no sign of Nick and Joanne and their two sons however and we began to worry that maybe they had some trouble getting to the airport. Of course we had to.laugh a bit because that is kind of our M.o. as I'm sure you know! We looked back and saw the lineup for check-in extending back a long way and the people arriving had slowed to a trickle but still no sign of oir friends . Not being much we could do we made our way through security which although smooth sailing we saw it was more convoluted than ever with extra security measures in place as I.

New machines you have to put your passport through before going to a customs agent! We put our passports in and to our dismay Colleens piece of paper vame out with a big X on it and we tensed up figuring we were in for some extra scrutiny. The attendant saw the looks on our faces and came over to tell us that the x was random and not to worry about it. As it turned out we were put into a fast track line up and wisked through in no time!

We continued on to the waiting lounge area, grabbed a snack and coffee at Tim's and had a look around for our friends in case they had come extra early buy there was still no sign of them. I messaged Nick to see what was up but had no response. Time ticked on and we started boarding but still no sign of them!.We boarded and sat down In Our seats and figuredthat they weren't on that flight or had had some mishap that would cause them to miss it.

It was about 10 minutes befirw The flight was to leave when we saw them come through thw door! We laughed and they thwy laughed and rolled their eyes and we figured we would come talk to them during the flight at some point. To our total surprise however it turned out that they were sitting in the same row as us! This was pure coincidence as no effort was made by either of us to book the aame flight let alone the same row of seats! the chances of this happening have to be in the tens of millions to one.

We had a wonderful time catching up as it had been a long time since we had seen each other. It's one of those rwlationships wherw qwrwally enjoy each other s company but just have trouble connecting. Anyway we had a great time and renewed our assurances that we would get togther soon.

I've rambled on too much now and am getting the evil eye to leave for
dinner. I will add more when I get a chance but in short we have been
having a great time enjoying great music performed in part by our friend Alexis and meeting a bunch of really fun people.

Alexis plays in a band with his father and half brother at a local bar restaurant a couple times a week and is an incredible guitarist and singer. He is born and raised in mazatlan and his wife,Heather is from Vancouver and we met them while living up there. They moved back down here 2-1/2 years ago and we' ve been meaning to catch up. OK that's it I have to go but we'll talk soon . Hasta luego!

Hello to our Favourite Mazatlanians!

Glad to hear all goes so well. Loved your one in fifty million seating arrangement! Pictures look wonderful! Continue to enjoy yourselves. Fondestos and Cheers to one and all, Patrizzio!

Hi Trev!

Just back from seeing The Foster Boy which was an extremely powerful film. Wonderfully acted. Very painful, difficult story but really dovetails with Aunt Leah's work so a terrific event for Chloë and the organization.

Sorry to hear about your "mashed potatoes"! For my part, I've fared better as far as weather is concerned. Tomorrow we are invited to Rosita's Kitchen for porcupine meatballs for din dins and then I'll pick up Whirlygig for an evening of bridge with Elaine and Ted. Friday night we are going to Granville Island, with Flamin' and Sarge, to celebrate Valentine's Day. Dusty and Clara will join us for drinks here beforehand. Something called Festival Under the Bridge:

Edible Canada House will host an 2010-esque, Olympic-style house party under the Granville Bridge in their 2nd annual Festival Under the Bridge. Watch Canadian athletes vie for gold as you sample nouveau Canuck cuisine like bison chilli or beef brisket and maple flapjacks.

Will give you a shout a day or so before 19th. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hope you family enjoyed it.

Hi again, Moe!

Most certainly! Had to fight them for every cookie! Cheers, Patrizzio!
